Inspirational & Creative 2010 Summer Workshops

Since 2006 RHP expands each year to reach out to more children and communities. To date, RHP has conducted a total of 7 summer and winter creative workshops with over 400 children and over 40 additional participants across communities located in both the west and south east regions of Haiti. RHP works with the same children every year and adds additional children to its workshops and programs on a yearly basis. This summer, workshop activities will include arts and craft, horticulture, environmental and sustainable energy practices, architecture, town planning and health seminars in the towns of Sibert, Cul de Sac (west of Port-au-Prince), Léogane (west of Port-au-Prince), Terre Rouge, La Montagne (highlands of Jacmel, south east).

Remote School Project

there are many primary and elementary schools in Haiti, the country has the lowest rate of public school enrollment in the world, and most children in Haiti lack access to quality education. Moreover, rural areas of Haiti have very difficult access to information and education due to poor infrastructure between rural villages and schools. The Remote School Project focuses on the use of internet communication and varied educational tools to help remote communities access education without promoting relocation to urban centers. As a pilot project, RHP will start by building two Education Innovation Centers in south east Haiti. One center will be located in the major rural city of Jacmel and the other in the nearby, but remote town of Terre Rouge, La Montagne. These centers will be linked, and through the use of educators and technology the centers will function as hubs for the dissemination and development of education between these communities as well building bridges across local, regional, and national boundaries.

About Sentaniz Rosé for Haiti:

This wine was produced in appreciation of my dear friend Daniel Sanon, who has so long worked towards the betterment of his Native Haiti. All profits from the sale of this wine will be donated to the rural Haiti project. RHP now works in relief efforts after the catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12 2010. Additionally, RHP works to empower low-income at risk children in the most poverty stricken parts of Haiti. In buying this wine you are investing in the long-term advancement of the infrastructure and children of Haiti.

Daniel and I offer you our most sincere thanks.
